ES documents flowing to the Synergy repository

Does anyone have experience with the documents that ES creates like posting reports, notes and excel reports? They appear to be using invalid document types or inactive types that we cannot activate. We're looking for ways to get the proper meta-data on these documents like security level, categories, etc. Thanks for any and all advice.
