Allliance 7.2.1 on Windows 7?

Postby JFitch on Wed Jan 06, 2010 10:00 pm

Installed Alliance 7.2.1 onto Windows 7, but unable to get it to run. Saw on the customer portal that Alliance is not supported on Windows 7. I tried to run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP, it still doesn't launch. Is anyone aware of how to configure it or work around it so that I can run the software?

Yes, the solution is below. I have it running successfully on a win7 OS box. This is an Exact resolution that had a release date of 11/08/07. Here is the e-mail I got that corrected the problem.

Todd,

We have not certified Windows 7 with Alliance. We do have a number of customers running ALliance and Windows 7 though. For 64 bit you will need different MS SQL 2005 Backwards compatibility software. I have attached a document that contains a link to the Microsoft website to download the 64 bit version. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Mike

Below is the text of the attached file he sent.
